The Apple Harvest Festival is an annual full-day celebration that cannot be missed in downtown Waynesville North Carolina. Although the festival has expanded to embrace all of Main Street, it originated on the front lawn of the courthouse. The festival celebrates the fall harvest, and attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year. Visitors are welcome meander through the more than 100 exhibits that fill the streets of downtown Waynesville. Local mountain musicians and dancers provide entertainment throughout the day.
Another festival unique to the area is the Raymond Fairchild Mountain Music Jamboree held indoors at Eaglesnest in Maggie Valley North Carolina. The two-day event will fill your heart and ears with sounds of
traditional bluegrass tunes. The festival serves to celebrate bluegrass musicís rich heritage in the mountains. Bluegrass aficionados are welcome to camp on site for a
nominal fee, but space is limited and only available to two-day ticket holders. Some bluegrass musicians that have played in previous years include Raymond Fairchild, Bill Yates & The Country Gentlemen Tribute Band, Full Throttle, Grasstowne, Banjo Clinic, and many others.
A final festival unique to Maggie Valley is the Annual Great Smoky Mountain Trout Festival that takes place during the summer. The full-day festival promotes the importance of mountain trout as a valuable resource to Western North Carolina. Visitors to the event are urged to try the famous fried trout dinners that are
always delicious. Activities at the festival include a nature expo, fly fishing, demos, live music, crafts and the infamous trout race.
Maggie Valley booms when Thunder in the Smokies Motorcycle Rally comes to town for the weekend during the fall. The rally is a three-day event held at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. The weekend excitement includes a tour ride, live music, vendors, bike builders, games and shows. Donít miss the rumbling good time in the valley supported by Handlebar Corral Productions.
Maggie Valley is a biker friendly town that really heats up when the mountain foliage is magnificent fiery colors. Maggie Valleyís Fall Rally in the Valley rounds out Septemberís Smokey Mountain rumble. The rallyís two-day event features Nascar driver Jeff Gordonís Race Trainer who will be in attendance all weekend. Events at the rally include a bike show, games, and plenty of bands to keep the rally booming into the night.
